Our Story

Why we started Reach Your Potential

Our Story

It started with a trip to the doctors office…

While getting a sports physical from my doctor, Dr. Greg Maddox, I asked him how I was doing compared to others my age. His answer changed my life. And hopefully the lives of those around me. I learned about the epidemic that is childhood obesity, that his youngest diabetic used to be 26, but now it was 12. I began to look around and noticed how many kids were overweight, how the neighborhood playground wasn’t full of kids playing, how I was one of only two teens in the gym, and how fewer and fewer kids seemed to be trying out for high school athletics. This is when Reach Your Potential was born.

What they say
about this course

Christian Coeuille helped coach my son Adam through his first Muay Thai class. He demonstrated great restraint and patience in helping my son learn technique, instead of just sparring which I greatly appreciated. His efforts to make Muay Thai a positive experience for my son were amazing, and showed my son that it’s the little things that add up to make a person whole. I’m proud to say that Christian displays the kind of character that we need more of in this world.
Bryce Matsuoka
As the owner of a CrossFit gym who loves helping people, youth fitness excites me the most. Seeing young people develop both physically and emotionally through fitness is amazing…but watching Christian Coeuille go from the young middle schooler who was one of the first to join our gym when we opened to the amazing young man who is paying it forward with Reach Your Potential has blown my mind. He is a natural leader and I’m excited to see how many kids will have lives forever changed by this adventure!

Dr Maddox Adviser
Dr. Greg Maddox

Advisor

Dr. Greg Maddox is a Family Medicine Physician for Overlake Hospital in Newcastle WA. His discussion about my fellow teenagers’ current state of health inspired me to start Reach Your Potential. He told me that, as a doctor, he will warn kids about the bad path they are on, but that it was up to me and my peers to truly make a difference by setting the example. I am forever grateful to Dr. Maddox for inspiring me to make this happen.
